At Molly's school, males are not allowed to wear "feminine clothing" within 500 feet of the school. You are not allowed to smoke within 250 feet. Why would you have to be twice as far away from the school in order to crossdress? Who has ever died of second-hand crossdressing?!
So Molly thinks something must be done about this exremely transphobic policy. Molly has noticed a huge presence of transgender, genderqueer and tranny obsessed allies at her school. She thinks the school needs to be made aware of this presence. How? Mo's Halloween Dragfest!
What is Mo's Halloween Dragfest?
At Molly's school people are allowed to dress up for halloween. In the past some students have dressed in drag for halloween. So why not organize huge groups of people to dress in drag for halloween? The rule is only stopping boys from dressing like girls, but Mo probably would not be very welcome. Mo's halloween dragfest does not only include drag, but also genderfuck. Why not wear a dress but have facial hair?
Problem:
Last year apparently boys who dressed in drag got in trouble. A teacher has suggested that perhaps Molly talk to the principal first. Perhaps she will, but would the principal's opinion really change Molly's mind? No. There is absolutely no justification of a rule banning drag on halloween. Molly can see that the school might be able to justify their transphobic views during the school year, but on halloween this idea is ridiculous. The school says the rule is to stop the students from being distracted (they are obviously not aware of the transgendered people they surely encounter everyday) but how would dressing in drag be anymore distracting than dressing as Freddy Krueger? Also Molly has asked other teachers who have worked at her school longer and they say whoever told her she would get in trouble was paranoid.
Molly knows that upon reading this her mother will get angry with her. Molly's mother is even more paranoid than the paranoid teacher. She wont even let Molly get arrested. This makes Molly sad because she thinks people should not be afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Plus Molly knows that the type of college she wants to go to would be more likely to let her in if she had a history of getting in trouble for standing up for queer rights.
