The girl genius behind Mo Faux is Molly. She created the persona known as Mo Faux in preparation for going to the Webster Drag Ball. Molly does not attend Webster as she is only 17 and a Junior in highschool, but she did attend the drag ball. Goodtimes...The Webster Drag Ball was the first time she had seen actual drag kings perform and it was really exciting and life changing. This first encounter with drag kings was watching a show of the Bent Boyz who kick ass and are way better than Mo (although he wont admit it). Her first drag performance was at Washington University through the Growing American Youth Drag Show (see links for their website). Mo Faux was the only king, but everyone loved him and he had the once in a lifetime chance to meet Daphne Scholinksi the famous author, artist, and activist. Read Daphne's book The Last Time I Wore a Dress, it will change your life!
Molly likes the ladies. She also likes drag kings, tranny folks, and all sorts of people. She also likes genderfuck. In becoming a drag king she learned a great deal about female to male transgendered people, androgynous people, and all types of tranny folks and genderfuckers. She suggests that you learn about these groups as well, but certainly does not consider herself an expert. In fact she frequently is completely ignorant of many things. Molly likes to work against sexism and the binary gender system.
Molly also likes sparkles and cunt blood red lipstick. She loves drama and dramatic queer women. In her spare time she loves to read, play dress up, and dance. Molly has many interests...too many if that is possible. Her friends often accuse her of being obsessed with everything from RuPaul to tea to Strong Bad.
Molly likes to sing. She especially likes singing jazz songs by such goddesses as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Ethel Waters, and so many more. Molly thinks it is cool how many female jazz and blues singers were out as lesbians or bisexuals and generally fabulous independent women. Molly suggests you look up some information about the queerness of many great jazz and blues singers because you will learn some really cool facts. Molly also likes singing Ani DiFranco songs in the car with her sister Anna. Molly sings at church because her mom makes her, but it is pretty fun just to sing.
Molly's mom is really pretty cool and underapprieciated. She is very accepting and interested in this website despite the fact that she thinks drag is weird. Molly's mom says cool things like when Mo put pictures of pin-up girls in his drag suitcase and Molly's mom saw them and she said "Whoa! These are great pictures! You are so clever! I am so proud!" when most mothers would go "Eww! Naked girls! What's wrong with you?! I am sending you to a convent!" The difference is that Molly's mom communicates with her daughter and understands that the pin-up girls were put in the suitcase as part of complex drag theory. She understood that the pin-up girls were placed there to symbolize the patriarchal objectification of women. Molly's mom actually thinks this website is clever and funny. Molly thinks her mom's standards are pathetically low. Molly's mom told her to never show people her website at school. Molly asked why and her mom said "Because it says penis." Molly said "Oh no! I hope they don't find out about the biology books!"
